Addiction

For 30 years I was on a very high dose of prescription opioids for a chronic pain disorder and when my doctor left the practice, I was told because of the opioid crisis, I would be taken off my meds. So after taking a 12 hour pill twice a day for all this time, I was terrified if I was going to be able to not only avoid the temptation to buy illegal drugs off the streets and risk the chance of overdosing or getting something deadly, but also if i was going to be able to withstand the chronic pain that i was prescribed the meds for in the first place. We'll, thanks to faith and prayers, I'm now opioid free and everyone asks me how I managed it. Everyone tells me I am the only successful person they know to beat this addiction. So many pain patients have resorted to illegal drugs and even suicide because of this crisis. I know it was due to my faith, prayer and the grace of God that I am still here! As for the pain I have, well, God and I are still working on that. Oh, and I have lost at least 3 cousins to the opioid epidemic. (That the family will admit to overdosing)
