My name is Patty Wastler. Please pray for me to make the right decision when it comes to having surgery on my neck. Let me back up.First, I am a "Little Person", medical term is "Dwarfism", 4'3". I've had 4 surgereies on my back (spine) from the base of my brain to my tailbone back in the early 80's at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. which is 1 of the greast hospitals known. My vertebras' was choking my spine. The last surgery was at my lower spine, but was over top of where they had already done some surgery the time before. About 4 to 4 1/2 yrs. later I slowly lost my ability to walk completely. I went from taking care of my little family which was my husband, an average size man & my daughter also a little person. I was driving & had worked a full time job. Living a life as any average size person did until I could not walk anymore, which was a devastating time of my life to get use to. And still is from time to time! But now my neck has been hurting for the past couple of months. Just the past 2 weeks I've been waking up only a few mornings with my neck hurting & a headache in the back of my head, which is scaring me. Recently I had an MRI done that shows I need surgery again. But I am so afraid that I will lose what I only have left to use, which is my arms & my hands that does have painful authorities in both. But I can still wash my face, hands, brush my teeth, feed my self, write in my journal every day, pay my own bills, etc. I'm now in a hospital bed with caregivers taking care of me so I don't have to be in a nursing home, which I was in there 2 yrs. for rehab from an open bedsore. I am very prone to getting bedsores. But I get turned every 2 hrs. And I'm in a wheelchair when I want & can go out as often as possible. I'm asking you to pray for me to get & make the right deccision on what to do about my neck. I'm thinking if I can find another good hospital with a good doctor who does laser surgery I would have a better chance then with cutting my neck. Only God can help me now. I also want you to pray for my financies because I'm only getting a little over $700 a mo. from Soc. Sec. from my husband who died in 2000. It's not enough to pay my monthly bills especially when my property tax bill comes due, homeowners ins. comes due, car ins. comes dues, etc. I have an small apartment in my home that I rent out, but 2 yrs. ago the lady wouldn't pay rent 2 mos. after moving in so I had to evict her, which she still wouldn't leave without paying rent for 6 mos. later & she had all the rights according to the law. Now my daughter & grandaughter lives there because her husband left her & she lost her second job which gives her 20 hrs. at $8 an hr. to live on. So she hasn't paid rent, but you always help your children when you can no mater what your sacrifices are. I have many more prayer request, but these are my most important . Thank you so much.
