My best friend is going through an unnecessarily nasty divorce. After 16 years in a loveless/sexless and ultimately abusive (she was the perpetrator) marriage, he approached the idea of divorce. She had always refused to work, learn to drive, or even really venture far from home. She admitted that she'd only been physical with him to provide their three children as insurance that he could not leave. She promised to change, over and over. They went to counseling. As a truck driver, he was gone a lot. He found out she had stopped paying all the bills and was recklessly spending the money. He tried to talk to her. She immediately filed for divorce the same week. He soon found that she had been reaching out to family, friends, her church, their children, even perjuring herself in court documents, lying about alleged abuse and neglect...slandering his character, and even questioning his faith. He lost everything, his home, his family, his vehicle, and over 70% of his pay, but it's not enough. She won't even begin to compromise. She lies and they don't require any proof...yet he provides evidence to refute the lies and nobody cares. The courts have provided no justice. She is being financially backed by a church that knows nothing but her distorted side. I rented space in my home so he could exercise at least some visitation with his three beloved daughters when home. It went quite well, though there were some issues. Then we were served with court filings against my innocent adult son! My son is on the autism spectrum, and has severe social anxiety, severe separation anxiety, agoraphobia, and pervasive depressive disorder. However, he is highly functioning at home and has helped raise my five year old daughter. He is an amazing young man, but they made him out to be a danger to children and called him nasty names. She has never even met him, nor asked about his condition. Since then, I was forced to evict my dear friend to protect my children. It is a sad situation. They are headed for trial soon. She had already won by being dishonest and using underhanded tactics, while he has been honest and forthright. All we have now is our faith. He needs God's mercy. He needs a miracle. Please pray that he will finally receive at least fair consideration, or that God will touch her heart and she will accept his more than generous offer, or that the recent news about his pay change will provide the very miracle we have been waiting for!
