Katie, there certainly is a God and there are times when he allows things to occur in our lives to draw us close to him. Please hear what I am saying. He did not cause the things that have happened in your life - we do live in a troubled world and sometimes me make wrong decision that open wrong doors, but he allowed these things to happen. And please believe that if you will have even a tiny bit of faith, God will come through for you in ways you could never have believed. He will use everything bad that has happened and make something good come out of it. I can guarantee it because He did it for me. So, if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God sent his son in the person of Jesus Christ to take your place - he took our punishment when it should have been us - then you are saved and under the protective covering of Jesus Christ. That doesn't mean you will never have trouble, but it does mean that you now have a Savior who will fight for you and who never loses a battle!
