Prayers requested for my 89 y.o. mother who undergoes her second heart and femoral stent placement on December 18th at 11:00 AM. Please ask God to guide the hands of Dr. Khan her Cardiologist. Thank you!
On September 7th, my husband and I were staying in a small mountain cabin up in the mountains of Arizona, enjoying the beautiful 80 degree summer day, surrounded by the beauty of the forest. At near dusk, we took a trip to extract water from the nearby well that supplies water for the cabin. We have the water extraction process down and usually work together when we return back to the cabin to transfer it up into the storage tanks that supply water to the cabin. It was dusk just as we returned to the cabin with the water and suddenly, I felt such a great tiredness come over me that my husband told me to sit on the porch to rest while he hooked up all the necessary items to do the water transfer. I had just sat down on the porch when he said, "Oh no, I almost just stepped on a big rattlesnake!" I had come in the back door of the cabin (as we had locked the front screen on the porch), so I couldn't get outside to help him defend himself before the snake simply slithered in via a knot hole under the cabin storage box that is just off to the right side of the front porch of the cabin. I told him to go quickly to get the shovel that is stored in a storage shed at the back of the cabin and he did this, then came up to the front porch screen door to unlock it in order to let me out to help him. We walked about 12 ft from where the rattlesnake had hidden and stopped as we began to hear it hiss and rattle it's tale profusely. We decided to forget trying to get it with a shovel and wait until the next day to attempt to transfer the water from the well tank up into the cabin storage tank. So... that night, we were vigilant and looked under all the furniture of the cabin to ensure that it hadn't gotten up into our cabin and we prayed that God would put a shield of protection over us and the entire cabin. We placed the precious blood of Jesus over the entire cabin asking the Lord to please help us as we were both very scared of it. The next afternoon was another beautiful sunny day and we decided to do a Bible Study and had just read the entire chapter of Matthew 23 where Jesus is saying "“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?" We stopped and talked about this a bit and my husband said, "I need to finish what we were doing yesterday, Jesus will protect us from that snake, you'll see." We again prayed to the Lord for His protection, asking that he help us to get rid of this snake so that we wouldn't be bit by this big black rattlesnake. My husband told me to stay on the porch while he alone did the dangerous water transfer as the storage tank is right next to where the rattlesnake had hidden. I again was sitting on the porch and my husband pointed and said, "Look at this big snake that is coming straight to the cabin." A 4 ft King Snake was making it's way from a good distance away and it seemed to be on a mission and even though my husband was standing near to where it entered into a hole just under my side of the porch, the King Snake didn't even seem to notice that he was standing right there!. I called my neighbor and her husband said that King Snakes are known to be immune to rattlesnake bites and actually these big AZ King Snakes hunt rattlesnakes down and are known to eat them whole. After I hung up, I told this to my husband and he said, "Well, let's see what happens then." We again had another sleepless jumpy night knowing that there were now two snakes under the cabin, but my husband said, "We prayed about this, God will protect us, try to get some sleep." The next day we had gone to get a second tank of water to transfer into the cabin and my husband was doing the water transfer while I was preparing our evening meal. All of a sudden he said, "It's that big Rattlesnake again and it's right on our back porch step!" I yelled out the window to grab the shovel and make sure to put his gloves on and he asked me to shine the light out the back door for him as the snake was black and it was now turning dark outside. It was hissing and spitting and had curled up behind a small wash basin just to the left of the back porch step. My husband saw it, but it was as if the Snake couldn't see him and he was able to use the shovel to kill it and asked me to help him after it had fallen dead off the back porch step where it had been hiding behind the barrel. I gave him the flashlight and used the shovel to make sure it was completely dead, but gladly handed it back to him asking him to please go and throw it away in a ravine near the cabin which he did. (Before he picked it up in the shovel, I took a picture of it and we counted it had 7 rattles on it with a diameter of about 2 inches in the middle). At supper my husband said, "That snake looked exactly like the snake I almost stepped on yesterday afternoon when we came back with the first tank of water except something had happened to his head, it was as if he had been struck on the head by that King Snake and the reason I knew it was even there is that it had exited out from under the porch where it had hidden and was hissing and rattling as it was going along, so I think that the King Snake had somehow injured it which is why it was so easy for me to kill it as it couldn't see me." I then remembered our prayers for safety and said, "Maybe so but it was the KING OF KINGS who sent that King Snake directly to us after we prayed and our SAVIOR who is Sovereign who protected both of us from mortal danger." I added, "It was an absolute Miracle that God SENT that King Snake to us to help flush out that dangerous Viper from where it was hiding from under the cabin, remember the Scriptures we were reading about Vipers yesterday?" He said, "Oh yes, we have an awesome KING who absolutely brought us this Miracle in the Wilderness! We then said a prayer of thanks and sat praising Him who is the KING OF kings thanking Jesus for our Miracle in the Wilderness.
