Guilt and shame is growth. If you use the guilt and it grows to shame, then you experience the shame as your acknowledgement of needing to change, steer to a new directions and ask for forgiveness and never ever go back to that task or behavior again. That to me, would be what God, the Goodness, would ask of you...been there.
